When my son was in primary school, his goal was to be Head Boy.
He's an average sort of boy. Very dilligent but never top of his class.
At the annual School Sports Day, he entered the mile race. 4 laps around the field.
The winner had already finished when my son started his last lap.
He didn't stop because the race had been won. He was determined to finish. He did.
One of the proudest moments in my life. The next year he was elected Head Boy.
He became a Springbok Scout and completed a BSc degree in the following years.
All very proud moments in his parent's lives.
But he did it. On his own. With a bit of support and encouragement from his proud folks.
But he did it. He finished what he started.
A big lesson for us all. Never give up.
