He pays me when he can. If he does well, I earn more. If not, we have to cut back.
But we all keep trying.
He can't pay me when times are tough. No matter how much I complain, toyi-toyi or protest.
I don't belong to a union, or have UIF to fall back on if he fires me. Or the Government.
I know he will look after me when the good times come again. And they will.
We've been through many ups and downs over the years, but we have made it through, together.
Even through bad medical experiences.
The wife is exceptionally supportive. As are the children and grandchildren.
We are a happy bunch.
Did I mention that I am self-employed? And have been for many years.
Just like a lot of other bosses, the same principles apply.
Seth Godin calls us "Artists" in his book "The Icarus Deception - How High will You Fly".
I like that.
I look forward to what today may bring. Yesterday is gone, I can't change it.
