Positive thinking - available, within reach and free!
Yes, it's hard to stay positive all the time.
There's bad news, disasters, politicians, corruption, trauma, difficulty all around us.
Especially in our beautiful country, South Africa.
The land of Nelson Mandela, father of our nation. Statesman. Good guy.
Blitzed by Television, Newspapers, Magazines, Social Media. And the rest. No end in sight. Doom and Gloom.
The economy is a shambles. We'll never get out from under the yolk of corruption. All the crooks and gangsters will get off scot-free. No future. Blame it on the government. Or somebody. Anybody else.
Road deaths, murder, mayhem, war, terrorism, poverty, disease. The list is endless.
What do we do? Most times we wallow in our misery. Why?
Can we solve all the problems on our own? I doubt it.
So, what can we do? Here's a few suggestions.
For starters, stop fretting and searching for that perfect "job".
Find a starting place.
It's simple: Go get a job. Any job. Stop thinking any job is “beneath” you. Start somewhere. Anywhere.
Work hard. Do the best you can at whatever you do.
Never give up hope of working in the field you want to work in.
No matter what job you get, you can work hard and have pride in yourself.
Or start your own business in the field you are in.
Be a sole proprietor. You don't have to register.
Find a customer (just one). She will refer you.
Promote on Social Media - for free.
Grow your customer base that way.
Start small and grow, one day at a time.
You don't have to be Big to be Successful.
There are many small business owners who make a reasonable living while remaining small.
I know, I am one of them.
I don't even do enough turnover to register for VAT.
R1m per year at about 25% is a fair chunk of change, believe me.
Never Start Big and work your way down. It's a one way street - to the bottom.
If you are already big and in trouble, cut yourself down to size.
Reduce your overheads and build up your cash flow. Sell the Merc and buy a Golf (for cash).
Only buy what you need, what you need. Bulk is great when you have money. What you need, when you need.
Keep your cash in the bank, you may need it tomorrow.
Use Courier services. They have plenty of drivers and vehicles. You don't have to do deliveries yourself.
Use email to stay in touch. Phone calls are expensive and time consuming. Nobody has time any more.
We all hate interruptions. Make it as easy as possible for customers to buy.
Go online. Accounting packages are plentiful at a very reasonable cost. Do everything online.
Invoicing, quoting, ordering and payments. Email.
Internet banking. Who goes to the bank any more? They are closing branches because of that.
The bank is not your friend, they just look after your money.
No need for an expensive package and an even more expensive "specialist" to operate it.
And most importantly - Stay Positive.
Doesn't matter what's going on around you, focus on your little world.
There's enough for you to do there.
Nobody can do this for you - you're on your own.
There's plenty of advice and mentors around to get a few good ideas.
New to this "online" world?
I would suggest you have a look at Peter Carruthers' course on "How to Start Your Own Online Business".
Thousands of Rand worth in value for only R197.00.
You will learn how to earn a living in no time at all. Even if you already have a business.
But you have to do it, we can't do it for you.
Can I help you? I don't know, you'll have to ask.
By email, please.
